This weekend Joey and I took advantage of the beautiful weather and decided that it was the perfect time to go for the first hike of the season. Our hike of choice was a little ambitious and tough but well worth it. We decided to try out Mount Si up in North Bend. If you do the whole hike its 4 miles up with a 3100 feet elevation gain so 8 miles round trip. Joey and I had every intention of reaching the top but with the highest point of being 3600 feet we didn't quite make it. About a mile up we started to get into some snow and obviously the higher you go the more snow you have to dig through. We went about another mile in the snow and had to turn back because trying to trek up hill on a slippery trail wasn't really feasible. I slipped quite a few times and twisted my ankle so we had to turn back. Most people that went further than we did had those metal claws that attached to their shoes to get traction. Ya, Joey and I didn't have those so we had to turn back. But the 2 miles we did go up was definitely a work out because it was all up hill with no break. We had a great time taking in the awesome scenery and will definitely do this hike again later on in the spring or summer when the snow has cleared. We are with out a doubt going to make this hiking activity a regular thing. Who wants to join us??
I'll post pictures when I get them off my camera
Happy 6th Birthday Jovie!
