About Me

My photo
I'm a really big dork and perfectly ok with that. I enjoy life and all of the challenges that come with it. I am a very strong person so it takes a lot to phase me. When a challenge comes my way that tests me a little more than I would like, I have the love and support from loving people who give me the determination I need to make the right decisions.I take relationships very seriously. Trust is something you earn with me...it is not just handed to you. Life is too short to live with regrets.

Our little getaway

Joey started his management tranining program this week (22 weeks of M-F..8-5...weekends off - whoohoo!!) so last week we went on a little getaway. It was kind of a last minute thing. He found out 3 weeks ago the start date for the program so we decided to go on a little getaway before he started because we can't really go away during the training, and not for a while after the training is over because he will have a new position at a new store...etc.etc. At first this little getaway was supposed to be a weekend thing, but then it turned into a week long adventure...and boy...what a busy adventure it was...

Sunday we flew into Long Beach, CA (free flights curtosy of airline miles) and rented a car. From Long beach we drove to Valencia to go to Six Flaggs Magic Mountain (I am a roller coaster maniac). After that we drove to Riverside so that Joey could meet his long lost Uncle Joe (from his dad's side of the family whom he has never met) and his wife Lisa.

We visted them that night and the next day we drove down to San Diego to go to the Zoo. We spent all day checkin out the animals and after that we roamed around downtown San Diego and stay the night.

The next morning we drove all the way up to Hollywood to go to Universal Studios. After all day at Universal Studios we hit up a Laker game and they happened to be playing the Oaklahoma City Thunder. When ever we go someplace we always try to hit up a local sporting event and become fans for a day. We bought laker shirts and all. Now Joey can cross "go to a laker game" off his list of things to do. Kyle Weaver from WSU started for the Thunder so that was kinda cool. The game was fun.

We stayed the night in LA and the next morning we went to Knotts Berry Farm and hit up the rollar coasters there. After that we drove all the way up to San Jose so that Joey can meet his long lost Aunt Shelia (also from his dad's side) and we stayed the night there.

The next morning Shelia took us to San Fransico and we putzed around Fisherman's Warf for the day. Then after that, we drove to Manteca so that Joey can meet his Unlce Peter (also from his dad's side) and we visited his family for the evening then drove back to Shelia's for a good nights rest.

Then the next morning we hopped in the car and drove up the US 101 and stayed in Florence, OR. It was a long (11hrs) but a very pretty drive. A drive I have always wanted to make. We drove through wine country, the redwood forest, and up along the Oregan Coast.

The next morning (Valentines day) we made the drive home, made a nice dinner, and plopped down on the couch. The trip was busy....but so fun and soooo worth the time.

I will update this post with pictures once I upload them to my computer

You know that I lived in San Jose and Manteca growing up... I would almost say I'm from Manteca... almost. Anyway, cute new layout. Did you drive through Bodega Bay on your coastal drive? Sounds like you had lots of fun!!!
