This:
Joey wants this:
But "want" is a big word. We may want these cars. We have been wanting them for a while. We can for sure afford both of them. That is not the issue. The issue is...do we NEED them?? No, defiantly not.
Right now I drive a 1999 Subaru Impreza. I have had it since my sophomore year in college. It was free from my parents because I needed it to get from school to home whenever I needed to. My dad said I had to graduate in order to keep it. If I didn't graduate... I didn't get to keep it. I graduated so I have no car payment now. I have never had one. I don't even drive this car that much. I drive 4 miles a day during the work week to get to and from the bus park n ride. We drive Joey's car everywhere else. It is in perfect shape and I have had absolutely no problems it. So, do I need a brand new car with a car payment to drive 4 miles a day. NOOOOOO!!!
Joey has a 2004 Ford Focus. He bought it brand new and has just over 60,000 miles on it. It too is in great shape and he only drives 15 miles a day to work and back. We are still even paying it off and we will have it paid off in less than a year. We take it on road trips and where ever else we go. It is a great car and we have absolutely no problems with it either. So does Joey need a new car?? NOOOOO!!!
So why do we have our eyes on the cars above? Cuz we like them and one day we WILL have them. Whenever we see one on the road we stare at it and always talk about the features we want when we get them. Joey sometimes mentions that we should go test drive them. I automatically turn him down and don't even want to go near a dealership. Why you might ask? Cuz we will come home with not one...but BOTH of them. Whenever we go look at things that we may want or need we almost always buy it. The word "look" is not an option for us. We also have been doing really good paying down are last credit card balance, are trying to whipe away the student loans, and build up our savings. Why would we ruin that with two brand new cars that we obviously don't need? And who is to say that when the time is right to buy new cars that we might want something else?? Right now we are thinking rationally. Hopefully this rational thinking sticks around. HOPEFULLY.
Happy 6th Birthday Jovie!

Totally agree with you. I really want a Honda Pilot but do I need it? No, not yet. Having no car payment is nice and I will drive my car into the ground if I have to!
